AMSOIL
synthetic motor oils dramatically outperform conventional motor
oils. They reduce friction, heat and wear for maximum power,
performance and fuel efficiency.
What makes AMSOIL synthetic
motor oils so good? The molecular uniformity and purity of
synthetic oils allows them to protect and lubricate engines
better and more efficiently than conventional oils in all
operating conditions. Synthetics lubricate and protect quickly
in cold temperatures, maintain a dependable lubricating film in
normal operating temperatures and shield moving parts from
damage and wear during high-stress, high-temperature operation.
AMSOIL synthetic motor oils exceed the most demanding worldwide
performance standards and meet warranty requirements for all
domestic and imported motor vehicle engines.
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters for
automobile and light truck applications have the best efficiency
rating in the industry. They also have significantly lower
restriction than conventional cellulose media filters. The small
synthetic nanofibers in AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters trap smaller
particles and hold more contaminants, resulting in lower
restriction. During the engine warm-up period, an Ea Oil Filter
allows the oil to flow through the filter at colder temperatures
than a typical cellulose filter does. The additional filtering
time decreases engine wear. AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are guaranteed
for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, when used
in conjunction with AMSOIL synthetic motor oil.
AMSOIL Ea Air Filters
AMSOIL Ea Air Filters’
synthetic nanofiber media removes five times more dust than
traditional cellulose filter media alone and 50 times more dust
than wet-gauze filter media. AMSOIL Ea Air Filters are designed
to provide superior efficiency, better air flow and more
capacity, and they are cleanable for long life. AMSOIL Ea Air
Filters are guaranteed for 100,000 miles or four years,
whichever comes first. They remain effective for 25,000 miles or
one year before requiring cleaning.
AMSOIL-
The Right Choice for the
Environment
Our mechanized society
cannot function without lubricants. The dilemma is oil is both
necessary for our lifestyle and potentially destructive to
nature. Quite simply, we must select innovative, efficient
products that will help solve our pollution problems. The
introduction of AMSOIL synthetic motor oil in 1972 set all new
standards for motor oil quality. AMSOIL lubricants are 100%
synthetic. They are specially designed to protect engine
components, reduce emissions, last longer, reduce fuel
consumption and prevent environmental pollution. From the
beginning, AMSOIL synthetic motor oils have out-performed
conventional petroleum motor oils on all counts. AMSOIL
synthetic motor oils resist chemical breakdown and the formation
of sludge, keeping engines cleaner. They have been specifically
designed not to oxidize, volatilize or shear back, resulting in
a motor oil that lasts longer than conventional petroleum motor
oils. While petroleum motor oil manufacturers recommend oil
changes every 3,000 miles, AMSOIL synthetic motor oils protect
engine components up to 35,000miles or one year, dramatically
extending oil change intervals.
According to the U.S.
Department of Energy’s Pollution Prevention Requirements, the
first step in revitalizing a cleaner nation is pollutant source
reduction. AMSOIL accomplishes this by extending the interval
between motor oil changes which can reduce the source of motor
oil pollution more than 11 times. It is estimated that over 240
million gallons of oil are improperly discarded annually.
Dumping 240 million gallons of oil is nearly the same as two
Exxon Valdez spills each month. Just one quart of used oil can
produce a two-acre oil slick. One gallon of oil can make one
million gallons of water too foul to drink and 35 ppm of oil
will kill fish. Improperly disposed used oil is dangerous.
Improperly dumped used oil seeps through landfills into ground
water, disrupts bacterial digestion in sewer treatment plants
and washes into lakes and harbors. At present, used motor oil is
the largest single source of oil pollution in our nation’s
waterways. Certainly the first thing we can do is not create so
much used oil to begin with, and recycle the used oil we have.
Both synthetic and conventional motor oils can be recycled at
any used oil recycling center. Virtually every city in the
United States has multiple used oil collection sites for free
recycling.
Most automobile
manufacturers recommend oil drain intervals of 3,000 to 6,000
miles for petroleum motor oils. AMSOIL recommends up to a
35,000-mile oil change which is 5 to 11 times fewer oil changes.
Just think about the savings on the environment if, for example,
the 243 million cars (excluding trucks, buses and taxis) in the
United States were equipped with AMSOIL motor oil. Assuming an
average service-life of 100,000 miles and an oil capacity of 5
quarts each, 20.2 billion to 40.5 billion quarts of used oil
will be generated during a regular service lifetime (with
regular oil changes every 3,000 to 6,000 miles). If 40.5 billion
quarts of used oil were put into 55-gallon barrels and lined up,
the line would stretch from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. and
back 12 times. Alternatively, if each of those 243 million cars
was equipped with AMSOIL synthetic motor oils and following oil
drain intervals of 7,500 to 35,000 miles, only 3.5 billion to
16.2 billion quarts of oil would be consumed in the same period.
That is a reduction of anywhere from 4 to 37 billion quarts of
oil, just by switching to AMSOIL motor oils.
For over three decades,
AMSOIL INC. has been recognized as the leader in synthetic
lubrication technology. AMSOIL was the first to introduce a
synthetic motor oil qualified by the American Petroleum
Institute, the first to recommend 25,000-mile/one-year drain
intervals, the first to recommend 35,000-mile/one-year drain
intervals, and the first to implement a system for dramatically
increasing drain intervals with oil analysis. Decades of
research, laboratory analysis and millions of engine miles have
kept AMSOIL the leader in automotive applications for synthetic
lubrication. Although the results have paid off in maximizing
efficiency and minimizing waste, more can be done. AMSOIL is the
leader in synthetics and will continue to explore ways to reduce
environmental impact through continued research, analysis and
product development.
The life of a lubricant is
dependent upon the quality of the oil and the filtration
system’s ability to keep it clean. AMSOIL provides all of the
tools necessary for extending drain intervals while maintaining
maximum engine protection. Premium AMSOIL synthetic lubricants
and Ea Filters, in combination with oil analysis from OIL
ANALYZERS INC., allow motorists to dramatically extend drain
intervals, saving time and money while helping to preserve the
environment. OIL ANALYZERS INC. provides accurate testing and
customer-focused solutions to help motorists extend oil drain
intervals with confidence. Oil analysis from OAI detects any
unforeseen issues and predicts when adjustments or oil and
filter changes are necessary. Only AMSOIL offers premium
products that are designed to provide superior protection over
extended drain intervals, resulting in reduced oil consumption.
Reduced oil consumption means reduced oil disposal and reduced
oil pollution.
Each year nearly 600
million gallons of motor oil are burned and exit through the
tailpipes of cars and trucks, creating emissions pollution.
Petroleum oils volatilize (burn off) more readily than AMSOIL
synthetic oils and create more emissions pollution. The graph
below shows the results of 11 oils that underwent the NOACK
Volatility Test. Of all the oils tested, AMSOIL shows
dramatically less weight loss. The thicker oil left behind after
volatilization contributes to damaging deposits, sticky piston
rings and oil blow-by, all of which cause reduced engine life,
reduced fuel economy and increased air pollution.
The advanced lubricity
(slipperiness) of AMSOIL synthetic lubricants has been proven to
increase fuel economy by 2-5%. AMSOIL reduces friction and
allows your engine to use its heat-energy more efficiently.
If a person averages more
than 15,000 miles each year, and spends an average of $3.10 per
gallon of gas, a 5% savings would be more than $88 per year
(assuming an average of 25 mpg).

• Recycling just two
gallons of used oil can generate enough electricity to run the
average household for nearly 24 hours.
• Three states in the U.S.
have classified used motor oil as a hazardous waste: California,
Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
• The used oil from one oil
change can contaminate 1 million gallons of fresh water – a
year’s supply for 50 people.
• If all Americans who
changed their own oil recycled their used oil, it would provide
enough motor oil for more than 50 million cars a year.
Imagine how much foreign oil that would eliminate.
Superior Wear Protection for
Motorcycles
AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle
Oils are formulated with premium synthetic base stocks and
high performance additive technology that provide superior
multi-functional benefits for the special requirements of
motorcycle applications. Tests prove these independent and
exclusive AMSOIL formulations provide second to-none viscosity
protection for hot-running American and foreign motorcycle
engines, transmissions and primary chain cases. AMSOIL 20W-50
Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCV) is recommended for
Harley-Davidson, Buell, KTM, Ducati, BMW, Aprilia and Triumph
motorcycles calling for a 15W-50 or 20W-50 viscosity, providing
superior protection in engines, transmissions and primary
chain cases. AMSOIL 10W-40 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCF) is
recommended for Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Victory, BMW
and Husqvarna motorcycles calling for a 10W-40 or 20W-40
viscosity, providing superior protection in engines and
transmissions. AMSOIL 10W-40 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil is also an
exceptional product for any two-cycle motorcycle transmissions
requiring a 10W-40 lubricant. AMSOIL 10W-30 Synthetic Motorcycle
Oil (MCT) is recommended for Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki
motorcycles and scooters, providing superior protection in
engines and transmissions.
MAXIMUM TRANSMISSION
PROTECTION
AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle
Oils not only provide superior protection for motorcycle
engines, they also provide superior gear protection, meeting API
GL-1 and SAE 80 (MCT), SAE 80W-90 (MCF) and SAE 90 (MCV) gear
lube requirements. Viscosity is the most important
characteristic of a lubricant. Motorcycle gears create a
shearing effect that causes permanent oil viscosity loss. This
thinning effect reduces the oil’s ability to prevent
metal-to-metal contact and wear. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle
Oils exhibit absolute shear stability as measured by the
industry-recognized Kurt Orbahn shear stability test (ASTM
D-6278). They provide superior protection compared to
competitive oils and eliminate the need for separate gearbox or
chain case oils.
EXCELLENT WET-CLUTCH
PERFORMANCE
Many motorcycles use a
clutch that is immersed in the motor oil. The friction modifiers
present in many automotive motor oils and the extreme-pressure
additives present in EP gear lubricants produce a low
coefficient of friction between the clutch discs and plates,
resulting in clutch slippage and glazing. Slippage leads to
increased operating temperatures and reduced clutch life. AMSOIL
Synthetic Motorcycle Oils are formulated without friction
modifiers, providing positive clutch engagement, longer
equipment life and reduced temperatures. AMSOIL Synthetic
Motorcycle Oils meet the clutch compatibility requirements
mandated by JASO MA/MA2 and ISO standard ISO-L-EMA2.

Diesel Passenger Vehicles Making a
Comeback
Over the years,
Americans and Europeans have been worlds apart when it comes to
diesel vehicles. Diesel
passenger vehicles have been popular in Europe for years, and
they become increasingly more popular each year. In fact,
according to a survey performed by Eurocarprice.com and
Pricewaterhouse Coopers, diesel car sales in Europe are on pace
to exceed gasoline car sales in 2006. Even inthe United Kingdom,
which has the highest diesel fuel prices in Europe,
gasoline-fueled car sales dropped 11 percent last year while
diesel-fueled car sales increased by more than 7 percent. In
America, diesel passenger vehicles have traditionally been a
tough sell, with many Americans harboring negative impressions
of diesel vehicles as being noisy, polluting and foul-smelling.
However, industry experts predict a dramatic comeback for diesel
passenger vehicles in America.
According to TechnoMetrica, diesel vehicles may eventually
become as common in the United States as they are in Europe, and
J.D. Power and Associates projects diesel sales to nearly triple
in the United States over the next
decade, accounting for more than 10 percent of U.S. vehicle
sales by 2015.
Diesel technology has come a long way since the 1970s, and
stringent new federal diesel emissions requirements
take effect in 2007. As the 2006 model year expires, most of the
year’s diesel vehicle models will be discontinued,
giving way to a new generation of diesel engines designed to not
only meet stringent federal clean air requirements, but also be
as quiet and odor-free as gasoline engines, increase fuel
economy by 25 to 40 percent and provide enough torque to satisfy
American drivers. A significant breakthrough in this new era of
clean diesel technology was this year’s introduction of Ultra
Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuel. Sulfur is a key element to
particulate formation, and ULSD eliminates 97 percent of
pollution causing sulfur. While present diesel passenger
vehicles can be sold in all states except California, New York,
Vermont,
Massachusetts and New Jersey, automakers plan to take advantage
of new Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuel and advances in diesel
technology to create diesel engines that meet the pollution
requirements in all 50 states.
Automakers are developing different pollution-reducing
technologies for future diesel passenger vehicle models.
For example, DaimlerChrysler and General Motors plan to
introduce engines that inject urea into the cylinders during
combustion. Honda, on the other hand, recently announced the
development of a new catalytic converter that significantly
reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx). AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40
PremiumDiesel Oil (DEO) provides unsurpassed protection for
modern diesel engines requiring API CJ-4 emission quality oil
standards. It withstands the stress of heat, soot and acids to
prevent deposits, corrosion and wear, while its broad viscosity
range offers superior protection over a wide temperature range.
Synthetic 5W-40 Premium Diesel Oil isrecommended for the longest
service interval established by the vehicle manufacturer, and
drain intervals may be extended further based on oil analysis.
It is compatible with all exhaust treatment devices and designed
to extend the service life of particulate filters. Synthetic
5W-40 Premium Diesel Oil replaces 5W-40, 10W-40 and 15W-40
viscosity oils and is "backwards compatible" with pre-2007
diesel engines.
What
are the differences between gasoline and diesel engines?
A gasoline engine compresses a
mixture of gasoline and air, which is ignited with a spark from
a spark plug, while a diesel engine creates heat by compressing
air only. The fuel is injected into the compressed air, where
the heat ignites it. Diesel engines are more efficient than
gasoline engines because their compression ratios are higher.
Diesel engines compress at ratios between 14:1 and 25:1, while
gasoline engines compress at ratios between 8:1 and 12:1. Diesel
fuel is more efficient than gasoline due to its higher energy
density. One gallon of diesel fuel contains approximately
147,000 BTU, while one gallon of gasoline contains about 125,000
BTU.

AMSOIL "Fabulous Four" 2-Cycle
Oils provide second-to-none
protection and performance in modern two-cycle equipment
Two-cycle engines remain the workhorses in recreational
equipment, including outboard motors, motorcycles, snowmobiles
and personal watercraft, as well as in lawn and garden
applications like lawn mowers and weed eaters. Design changes
over recent years have included direct fuel injection engines,
in which fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber,
and exhaust power valves, which improve combustion efficiency at
varying RPM. These design changes have allowed two-cycle engine
manufacturers to effectively reduce emissions, improve fuel
efficiency and decrease oil consumption. Today's two-cycle
motors of all types require specialized oil technology to
deliver maximum engine protection,
dependable operation and long service life
As
the leader in two-cycle oil technology, AMSOIL has performed
extensive research in developing a new line of revolutionary,
specialized oils called the "Fabulous Four." AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR
